22nd Birthday

I apologize for the long hiatus. I've been very busy with school and other concerns. I've also been going to the gym more frequently. Along the way, I've taken many photos intended to put into this little blog of mine. But being an established procrastinator made those intentions seemingly dubious. Fret not, I wish to post some today.

My birthday celebration was short and sweet. I was very exhausted that day and slept early (the housemates insist on believing that I purposely went to bed early, awaiting to be 'surprised'). At midnight I was ambushed by the housemates. I received a bouquet of beautiful red roses from D and KD and . . . a Disney princesses helium balloon! A slice of chocolate cheese cake and yam bubble tea was also in the package.

I had my birthday lunch at a restaurant I've been wanting to go for the longest time. It's an asian restaurant down town, serving a fusion of Thai and Vietnamese.

My seafood in green curry. Yums!

I don't know about you guys but I'm that typical girly girl who adores flowers.

My bouquet of roses are now dead but I dried them upside-down and store them in a glass vase

Beautiful blood red tulips I encountered near the river downtown

The oriental lilies in my room blossomed a little late than I was told. They smell like a magnificent unicorn

Pre-birthday gift

So my holidays are over. My winter '12 results were alhamdulillah, up to my expectation but I'm a little scared by the intimidating course outlines for this summer. One of the courses requires me to actively engage in the stock market exchange on a daily basis. It's a simulation tho, only with actual stock market. It should be fun. The other course, Investment, has a busy course outline too. But it's okay. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going!

Meanwhile,

I have been rearranging the furnitures in my room every now and then. There's just something wrong with  the whole thing. Hello feng shui why are you not working?

The final result:

So much space after the rearrangement. Approximately 12 ft of space maybe

. . . and the most delicious red velvet ever from D
* Tomorrow I turn 22 :)

Carrot cake

It's final exam month. It's that time when I crave the most unhealthy food. I went to the market and bought cinnamon and sugar, grabbed four carrots from the refrigerator and started shredding them. Although carrots contain a lot of vitamins and antioxidant, I found that a carrot cake is unhealthier than a red velvet cake. That's because a carrot cake needs to be softer and moister than a red velvet. That means, you need more oil or butter. But then again, that is subject to the variety of recipes available. The cakes turned out very well and my friends loved it. I topped the cakes with my favourite frosting, cream cheese! The hazelnuts (as a substitute to the expensive walnuts) and chocolate chips empowered the crunchiness and sweetness of the shredded carrots. I brought it to the solat hajat and usrah session last Friday and guess what? Licin :)

U.S trip

After spending a few days in Hamilton and Toronto, we took the bus to Washington. Although Canada and US are neighbouring countries, to hop between two places could take 10 hours to days. Washington is such a wonderful place! I have loved museums ever since I was a little girl. Something about the bones, the history and the extinct intrigue me. I am easily fascinated with animals and the science pertaining to them.

I was 4 years old when I paid my first visit to The Smithsonian National Museum. 18 years later there I was again. Still amazed by the fossils, still excited to discover. I was like a little girl all over again.

Three days after, we hopped on the bus to NYC.
